All Saints Shorthampton

All Saints Church lies within the tiny agricultural hamlet of Shorthampton. The building dates back to the 12th century and is still in regular use for worship. Walkers on the Oxfordshire Way, come across this gem by chance and drop in to rest or to absorb the prayerful atmosphere. The fabric of the building has been extensively restored, for which the Friends of Shorthampton have raised many thousands of pounds through different events and trusts. The Friends of Shorthampton is a group of volunteers which was started over twenty years ago by Sir Frederic Bolton in order to do just this – raise funds for eventualities such as a new roof. The mediaeval wall paintings are constantly monitored along with other parts of the building. A guide leaflet, postcards and other items are available for sale in the church. If you would like to help or become a Friend of Shorthampton, contact Amanda Cooper art@amandacooper.co.uk or the Parish Office. (01608 810230).
