The Friends of Shorthampton have arranged a concert this Autumn to raise funds for All Saints Church.

Craig Ogden and his wife Claire Bradshaw have very generously said that they will perform and alongside them will be a smorgasbord of local talent who will join us for a very special evening of music and poetry.

If you are unable to join us, perhaps you would consider sponsoring a bottle of Daylesford Pink Frizzante at £16 per bottle or make a modest contribution – please contact Amanda for details on how to donate. Daylesford Organic have generously supplied 6 bottles already!

All of these ways of raising money are so that we can continue the vital work that is needed to carry this gem of a church through the 21st century and beyond.

The annual Churches Together in Charlbury Holiday Club, took place in St. Mary’s church during the week beginning 31^st July.  Fifty-two children enjoyed funny dramas, games, singing, music making, art and crafts.  Each day, by way of a Time Machine, everyone travelled back in time, to meet a child from the bible who had been kind and who had listened to God – such as Miriam who saved baby Moses and the boy who shared his five loaves and two fishes. St Mary’s future vicar, the  Rev. Fergus Butler-Gallie visited and met all who took part. The church was very festive with balloons, bunting and an array of images from time and space. This year’s Holiday Club provided fun and learning from a happy and talented team of adult leaders. Bishop Gavin led the Sunday Service, from which an outgoing collection raised £186 for the Children’s Society.

John Partington is offering a session on Sunday 20th August in St Mary’s Church Charlbury at 6pm to look at the Book of Judith in the Apocrypha. All are welcome. Bring a copy of the Apocrypha if you have one (some Bibles include these books). Don’t worry of you don’t have one, or read it here.

Once again Wilderness is supporting St Mary’s Church, and have kindly donated two lots of 2 adult general camping tickets, worth £550 per pair, which we will be auctioning during the first two weeks of July to raise funds for St Mary’s church and its community initiatives.

St Mary’s Church gratefully acknowledges the support of The 2023 Wilderness Festival.

This was a huge success raising over £2,500. The weather was kind and attenadce up. A big thank you to all the stall-holders and supporters who contributed to make a realy enjoyable day.

The Cake and Tea tent at the Beer Festival was a big success again this year with 7 hours (!) of steady traffic and demand for our delicious offerings.  We managed to raise blood sugar levels and over £1,600 in sales with a fantastic rota of volunteers.  Thanks to all who provided the abundance of cakes, brownies and cookies.
